On Saturday, November 2, the Hippocratic Cancer Research Foundation (HCRF) will celebrate a decade of dedication and support of groundbreaking research at the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University at its 10th Anniversary Wings to Cure Gala.
Chaired by Shaina Hurley Lardakis and Christos Lardakis, the impact of this glamorous event that will be held at the Aon Grand Ballroom of Chicago’s iconic Navy Pier, will extend far beyond the gala, for decades to come.
According to the hosts, it will be an evening of hope, inspiration and a shared commitment to pushing the boundaries of cancer research and treatment. “By supporting the groundbreaking work of visionaries like Dr. Leonidas Platanias and his team of researchers, we can push the boundaries of cancer treatment and inspire hope for a brighter future”, a press announcement notes.
Dr. Leonidas Platanias leads the Lurie Cancer Center of Northwestern University in Chicago, serving as Director and Associate Vice President for Cancer Programs. Since becoming director in 2014, the Lurie Cancer Center has ultimately experienced dramatic growth and received the highest rating in its history, an overall exceptional and a near-perfect score on the last CCSG renewal and ranked number 6 in the US News World Report.
Lou Canellis (Fox Chicago Sportscaster), Dawn Hasbrouck (Fox Chicago Award Winning Main Anchor) and Jane Monzures Clauss (Emmy Award Winning TV Personality) will be the emcees for the evening.
The Hippocratic Cancer Research Foundation was founded by five friends over lunch in the fall of 2013: the late Jay Michael, Danielle Samolovich, Annasophia Loumis, Nicole Eliadis-Boufis, and Eleni Bousis. It is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports “out of the box” cancer research at the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University.
Since its inception, the HCRF has raised millions of dollars for research to identify cellular pathways that affect all cancers, develop novel treatments for hematological malignancies, and launch innovative trials for all types of cancers, among other related efforts.
