NEW YORK –
The Governor of Greece’s Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) George Pitsilis, has met the Acting Commissioner and General Counsel of the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance Amanda Hiller.
During their meeting in New York, the two officials discussed matters relating to income tax, property tax, and emerging forms of investment such as cryptocurrencies. They also exchanged views on new methods of tax evasion and the tools available to detect undeclared income and curb tax fraud.
Pitsilis and Hiller reviewed the tools their respective authorities are developing to improve taxpayer services, taking into account trends in citizens’ preferred communication channels, as well as the organisational reforms being implemented to enhance efficiency in tax administration.
Pitsilis presented the myDATA platform and outlined the results it has produced in strengthening tax compliance among businesses, along with improvements to taxpayer services through the my1521 system.
