Archbishop Elpidophoros Visits Ionian Village in Greece


VARTHOLOMIO -Archbishop Elpidophoros of America visited earlier today the campgrounds of Ionian Village, the travel abroad camp program of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, located on the northwest coast of the Peloponnese, near the town of Vartholomio.

Accompanying His Eminence were Fr. Nektarios Papazafiropoulos, Chancellor of the Archdiocese, and Archdeacon Dionysios.

They were received by Fr. Gary Kyriakou, Director of Ionian Village and Giorgios Nastoulis, the Operations Manager, who gave His Eminence his first full tour of the historic facility and laid out the vision of the camp for the next centennial of the Archdiocese.

Since 1970, more than 17,000 teens and young adults have participated in the program committed to building, “Faith and friendships that last a lifetime”.
