ATHENS –

The General Secretariat for Greeks Abroad and Public Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will host the 2nd Greek Youth Diaspora Symposium at the “Hellenic World” Cultural Centre in Athens from November 25–28, as part of a hospitality program running November 24–30.

The symposium, established in 2024, aims to create a permanent forum for dialogue and cooperation among young people of the diaspora and Greece. Organizers hope it will serve as a reference point for diaspora youth, emphasizing networking, collaboration, and the preservation of cultural identity.

Young participants aged 18–25 from 30 countries will take part as panelists, while academics, business leaders, and political figures will moderate discussions. Topics will include cultural heritage, the Greek language and arts, education, artificial intelligence and innovation, sustainable development, volunteering, sports, and social cohesion.

The symposium, titled “Diaspora Dialogues: Connecting the Voices of Young People from Around the World”, will officially open on November 25, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., with remarks by Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis.

During the event, new Greek Youth Diaspora Ambassadors will be named, while those appointed in 2024 will present their initiatives and receive awards.

“We are investing in the new generation, placing particular emphasis on young Greeks abroad, their connection with each other and with the homeland, and the preservation of their cultural identity and heritage”, said General Secretary for Greeks Abroad and Public Diplomacy, Maira Myrogianni, in a recent interview with the Athens / Macedonian News Agency. She noted that last year’s inaugural symposium brought together youth from 16 countries across four continents and introduced the institution of the Greek Youth Diaspora Ambassadors.

“Undoubtedly, the youth of the Greek diaspora represent the future of Hellenism worldwide”, Myrogianni added. “But the active contribution of all diaspora Greeks, especially the most distinguished among them, ensures the progress and strengthening of the whole. Initiatives like this are a legacy that will multiply in impact in the years to come”.

The symposium’s sessions will be livestreamed, and participation will be possible upon registration at greekyouthdiaspora.gr/registration.
