“Bridging Revolutions: Hellas and America” Panel Discussion in Athens

NEW YORK, NY –

The Eastern Mediterranean Business Culture Alliance (EMBCA), in association with the Federation’s 2026 Parade Committee, will host a sold-out panel discussion titled “Bridging Revolutions: Hellas and America” on Wednesday, November 12, at the Demos Center, [17B Ipitou Street, Plaka] in Athens, Greece.

Hosted in collaboration with The Demos Center of the American College of Greece and its Director, Mary Cardaras, the event will be moderated by Lou Katsos, EMBCA President and Chairman of the Parade Committee.

The distinguished panel includes: Professor Kostas Ant. Lavdas, Chairman of the Department of International and European Studies, Panteion University, Professor Ilias Giarenis, Member of the Board of Governance and Professor of History, Ionian University, Dr. Meletis Meletopoulos, Economist and Doctor of Social Sciences, University of Geneva.

The evening will open with the National Anthems, performed by renowned international crossover artist Anastasia Zannis, followed by the panel discussion and an after event gathering among colleagues and friends.

Exploring Shared Revolutionary Ideals

“As the world approaches the 250th anniversary of the American Declaration of Independence and the 205th anniversary of the Hellenic Revolution, this EMBCA event will explore the enduring dialogue between Hellas and America—two republics united by their shared ideals of freedom, democracy, and human dignity,” said Katsos.

The discussion will examine the historical, philosophical, and cultural bonds connecting the two nations from the influence of ancient Hellenic thought on America’s Founders to the Philhellenic movement that supported Greece’s fight for independence.

“This year’s theme carries added significance,” Katsos noted, “as 2026 also marks the 250th anniversary of the birth of Ioannis Kapodistrias and the 200th anniversary of the Exodus of Missolonghi. EMBCA’s 205/250 framework has become a guiding lens for upcoming commemorations, including the 205/250-branded Greek Independence Day Parade in New York, which I’m honored to chair”.

“Together, these milestones offer a powerful opportunity to reflect on the revolutionary spirit that continues to unite Hellas and America across generations”, he concluded.
