COSMOS FM is Celebrating 37 Years of Broadcasting on New York City’s FM Airwaves

Hellenic Public Radio COSMOS FM, and its non-profit parent organization GAEPIS (Greek American Public Educational System), proudly commemorates 37 years of broadcasting on the FM airwaves of the greater New York area. As the sole Greek American radio station broadcasting on the FM spectrum in New York, COSMOS FM is a vital voice in promoting Hellenism and Greek culture to listeners across the region as well as worldwide through the internet and various platforms.

An annual tradition, COSMOS FM honors individuals or organizations for their outstanding advocacy of Hellenism through the prestigious Phidippides award. This year marks the 29th presentation of the Phidippides award, a testament to the enduring commitment of COSMOS FM and GAEPIS to recognize those who champion Greek heritage and values.

The recipients of the 29th Phidippides award are the Federation of Cypriot American Organizations (FCAO) and the International Coordinating Committee Justice for Cyprus (PSEKA). This distinguished recognition is bestowed upon them in commemoration of the 50th anniversary since the illegal occupation of Cyprus by Turkish armed forces.

The Phidippides Award Gala, honoring FCAO and PSEKA, will take place on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at 6:30 PM at the Union League Club in New York City. The gala promises to be an unforgettable evening honoring the achievements and contributions of these esteemed organizations. Additionally, a commemorative book will be issued to mark the occasion, encapsulating the rich history and significance of the Phidippides award.

The co-chairmen of this esteemed event are Nicolas Nicolaou and Jim Ziozis, who have played instrumental roles in organizing this momentous celebration.
