The Cyprus Children’s Fund successfully hosted its annual Harvest Champagne Brunch on October 24 at the renowned Plainfield Country Club, welcoming supporters, benefactors, community leaders, and friends of the organization for an afternoon dedicated to philanthropy and educational opportunity.

Among those present were Cyprus Consul General in New York Kyriakos Poyiatzis; the Very Rev. Evagoras Constantinides, Protopresbyter of the Ecumenical Throne, representing Archbishop Elpidophoros of America; the Televantos family; donors to the Cyprus Children’s Fund; members of the Board of Directors; and distinguished members of the community.

Greetings were conveyed by Cyprus First Lady Philippa Karsera Christodoulides, Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, Consul General of Greece in New York Iphigenia Kanara, PSEKA President Philip Christopher, and Federation of Cypriot American Organizations President Kyriakos Papastylianou.

The event paid tribute to John Televantos, who received the organization’s Humanitarian and Philanthropic Award in recognition of his longstanding commitment to the Cyprus Children’s Fund and the people of Cyprus. His name joins those of the many benefactors whose support has enabled the organization to fulfill its mission over the years.

A native of Famagusta, John Televantos serves as Senior Partner at Arsenal Capital Partners, a private equity firm focused on the specialty industrial and healthcare sectors. Through the newly established Televantos Family Scholarship, he will fund two annual scholarships for qualified students.

Cyprus Children’s Fund President Nicos Zittis expressed his deep gratitude to the honoree and his family for their transformative support, which includes establishing and funding a new category of scholarships aimed at empowering the next generation of students with Hellenic roots.

“We are profoundly grateful to John Televantos for his enduring generosity”, Zittis said. “His commitment as a benefactor for this new scholarship program will directly shape the futures of deserving students, extending the reach of our educational mission”.

Reflecting on the organization’s impact, Zittis noted that the Cyprus Children’s Fund has distributed over $5 million in assistance through its one-to-one child sponsorship programs, awarded more than $2 million in scholarships, and provided nearly $1 million to nonprofit organizations and programs in Cyprus that support children and adults with special needs, medical conditions, or orthopedic issues, as well as children from vulnerable groups.
