U.S. President Joe Biden held a phone call with His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew on the night of Monday, November 8, 2021, to inquire about his health and his return journey to Constantinople,the Ecumenical Patriarchate’s Press Office announced.
According to the statement, when the Patriarch thanked Joe Biden for their recent meeting at the White House, on October 25, which lasted more than an hour, the President answered politely that it could last up to a year!
The President referred to his recent visit to the Vatican where he met with Pope Francis and said that he was glad to see a very fraternal relationship between the two religious leaders.
Furthermore, Joe Biden mentioned to the Ecumenical Patriarch the meeting he had earlier that day with basketball player Giannis Antetokounmpo, who has become Orthodox.
Finally, the U.S. President told the Patriarch not to hesitate to contact him on any issue, should the need arises.
