NEW YORK, NY –
The Board of Directors of the Greek American Educational Public Information System (GAEPIS) has announced a leadership change following the resignation of Stelios Taketzis as Chairman of the Board.
According to a press release by GAEPIS, during the July 19 Board meeting, Amalia A. Bournias was unanimously elected as the new Chairperson.
Born in New York, with roots in fragrant Chios, Amalia A. Bournias is an accomplished architect and the founder of Topos Designs, Inc., an architectural firm she has successfully led for over 25 years. She is a dedicated supporter of Hellenic culture and education, with extensive experience in nonprofit leadership, fundraising, and community engagement.
“I am deeply honored to be elected Chairperson of GAEPIS and eager to work closely with our Board of Directors, our dedicated volunteers, and the entire COSMOS FM family. Together, we will not only continue but also strengthen this vital voice — the only Hellenic voice on New York’s FM dial — for many years to come”, said Bournias in a statement.
Τhe Board appointed Stelios Taketzis as Executive Director of COSMOS HELLENIC MEDIA, a new initiative operating under the auspices of GAEPIS.
As is is noted in the press release, COSMOS HELLENIC MEDIA will include the flagship radio station COSMOS FM, as well as expanded media platforms such as podcasts, vidcasts, online news, community outreach programs, and other cultural and educational activities.
This strategic transition reflects GAEPIS’s ongoing commitment to preserving and promoting Hellenic heritage through both traditional and modern media, ensuring that the Greek-Americancommunity continues to have a strong, independent voice.
