The value of Greek aluminium exports to the United States rose by 34.7 % in the January-August 2026 period, reaching €167.03 million compared to €123.99 million in the corresponding period of 2025 and €86.82 million in 2024, according to the latest report by the Economic and Commercial Affairs Office of the Greek Embassy in Washington.
As highlighted in the report, the increase in Greek exports comes despite the US import tariff on aluminium rising to 50 % and the duty on derivative aluminium products standing at 25 %.
According to the report, the upward trajectory primarily concerns products supplying the US aluminium manufacturing sector, as domestic production remains insufficient to satisfy demand. Conversely, stagnation or declines were recorded across other Greek product categories.
The report attributes the sustained demand for imported aluminium to structural weaknesses in US domestic production to meet market requirements, pointing out that the imposition of tariffs inflates costs for downstream industries utilizing aluminium and semi-finished products, as well as for end consumers.
