BROOKLYN, NY –
Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11) was honored on April 11 with the 2024 Women in Power Community Appreciation Award by the Brooklyn Health Essential Association for her work in Congress to uplift, empower and return federal funding to the Brooklyn community.
“It’s an honor to be recognized by the Health Essential Association alongside so many other outstanding women in our community”, Malliotakis said. “In Congress I’ve been proud to secure federal funding for several Brooklyn organizations, including the Guild for Exceptional Children, the Salvation Army in Bensonhurst, the Bay Ridge Senior Center, Maimonides Medical Center, the Boy Scouts and the NYPD, and support policies that make our community safer, stronger and more prosperous. I want to thank the Health Essential Association for everything they do to promote health and well-being, and I look forward to continuing our work together to make our borough a better place to live, work and recreate”.
“Congresswoman Malliotakis has been a fighter for our community and is more than deserving of our 2024 Women in Power Community Appreciation Award”, said Lina Chen, President of Health Essential Association. “During the pandemic, she stood up against Asian hate. She’s been sounding the alarm about migrant shelters, has supported public education and specialized high school programs, and understands that public safety is paramount. Whenever our community needs help, Congresswoman Malliotakis is there”.
