President of the Hellenic Republic Konstantinos Tasoulas received Archbishop Elpidophoros of America on Tuesday, December 2 at the Presidential Mansion.

The Archbishop briefed the President on the current state and progress of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, which, according to a statement from the Presidency, “plays a vital role in preserving the identity and cohesion of the Greek Diaspora, serving as a strong link with the Motherland”.

During the meeting, the President underlined that the Greek state fully supports the Archdiocese of America and its multifaceted mission in the spiritual, humanitarian, and educational fields – work that, among other things, aims to preserve the Greek Orthodox tradition as a living tradition within the diaspora.

“Our compatriots abroad, who are also American citizens, are the guarantors of preserving Greek Orthodox identity and tradition across the American continent. Their steadfast love for Greece is of immeasurable value to the Motherland, as they consistently stand by and support its efforts”, President Tasoulas stated.

He further highlighted the Archdiocese’s crucial role in creating the conditions necessary to strengthen the diaspora’s ties with Greece, safeguard the Greek language and cultural identity, and harness the vast potential of Greek communities abroad.

Finally, the President of the Republic reiterated to the Archbishop of America the constant and sincere commitment of Greece—and of himself personally—to the fulfillment of the sacred mission of the Archdiocese.
