CENTREVILLE, VA –
Virginia Senate Majority Leader Scott Surovell today [May 29] announced his endorsement of State Senator Stella Pekarsky in her campaign for Congress in Virginia’s 11th District.
As Senate Majority Leader, Senator Surovell has led efforts to advance major progressive legislation, including historic investments in education and working families. He has worked alongside Senator Pekarsky to champion policies that improve the lives of families in Fairfax by taking on corporate price gougers and securing unprecedented state funding for Fairfax County Public Schools.
“Stella Pekarsky is one of the most tenacious advocates for public education I’ve ever worked with,” said Senator Scott Surovell adding that “When Fairfax needed help, she led the fight for record state funding for our schools— funding that’s now more important than ever as the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors walks away from its commitments to our teachers and breaks their union contract.”
Surovell continued: “Stella took on corporate price gouging, leading the charge to ban predatory junk fees from ticket companies and big corporations. Stella has taken on tough fights— and won. And now, as MAGA extremists threaten our democracy, we need leaders like Stella in Congress who won’t flinch and won’t back down”.
Senator Pekarsky, a mom of six, former Fairfax County public school teacher, small business owner, and former School Board Chair, has built her career on delivering for Virginia’s families—especially when it comes to public education, reproductive freedom, and economic fairness.
