Shooting investigation underway at subway station in Brooklyn

BROOKLYN, NY – At least five people were shot -one is in critical condition- and several undetonated devices were found at a subway station in Brooklyn Tuesday morning, the FDNY and police sources said.

The FDNY said it received a call reporting smoke inside the 36th Street subway station in Sunset Park around 8:30 a.m.

Emergency personnel who responded to the station found several people shot at the location, the department said. Several undetonated devices were also found, the FDNY said.

Police sources said the NYPD is searching for a suspect who may have been wearing an MTA or construction uniform.

The NYPD has advised pedestrians to avoid the vicinity of 36th Street and 4th Avenue as the investigation continues.

D, N and R train service is currently suspended in Brooklyn and parts of Manhattan, the MTA said.

Mayor Eric Adams and Gov. Kathy Hochul have been briefed on the incident. Adams is currently isolating after receiving a positive COVID-19 test result on Sunday. [NY1]
