St. Demetrios Honors Students at Twitter Headquarters

New York, NY – Frida Kasimis and Kaliopi Tsiros of the 11th grade of St. Demetrios Prep School along with Antonia Kouridakis of the 12th grade were invited to visit the Twitter Headquarters and participate in conversations with journalists, educators, and their own peers on the topics of school culture, anti bullying initiatives, and respect for basic rights.

The meetings were held on October 24, 2022 as part of the National Media Literacy Week organized by the National Association for Media Literacy Education.

The Saint Demetrios Honors students were chaperoned to the event by their English teacher Ms. Laura Smith.  Ms. Kasimis who is also a member of the online social wellness group # I Can Help and the other young ladies were engaged in debate and dialogue on how teenagers and their actions-both positive and negative- are perceived by the media. In addition, the students met executives from Twitter who were welcoming and held a small reception for the participants.

Frida, Kaliopi, and Antonia will take what they learned from their participation in this event and use the key points at meetings of the school’s Debate and Newspaper clubs.
