The spirit of freedom and remembrance came alive at St. Thomas Hellenic School on Monday, October 27th, as students, teachers, parents, and community members gathered to celebrate the anniversary of OXI Day.

The auditorium showcased the artwork of the young learners who creatively expressed their pride in honor of the national holiday.

“The event, a testament to the unwavering dedication of the school’s staff and the support of the community, showcased the school’s commitment to preserving Greek heritage and instilling cultural pride in the younger generation”, noted School Principal Margarita Vrettos.

“Students took the stage with pride and enthusiasm, narrating tales of heroic deeds and historical events. The poems they recited and the songs they sang, not only evoked emotions but also stirred a sense of pride and nostalgia for Greece among the attendees.

The celebration was a powerful reminder of the importance of passing down traditions, language, and customs to the new generations, ensuring the rich tapestry of Greek heritage endures through time”, she added.
