“The Sounds of Lent” Concert by the Archdiocesan Cathedral Choir, March 14

NEW YORK, NY – GNUSA

The Archdiocesan Cathedral Choir, Youth Choir, Orchestra present “The Sounds of Lent” on Saturday, March 14 at 7:30 PM at the Greek Orthodox Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity (319 East 74th Street, New York City).

This special concert will feature reverent music reflecting the solemn beauty of the Lenten season and will honor the memory of Maestro Dino Anagnost, who served as the Cathedral’s Dean of Music for nearly 40 years.

Under the direction of Maestro Costas Tsourakis, the program includes beloved hymns from the Orthodox tradition, including the premiere of Dawn Helene’s Φῶς Ἱλαρόν, the arrangement of Τῇ Ὑπερμάχῳ from Kalomiris’ Levendia Symphony, Νῦν αἱ δυνάμεις arranged by Steve Cardiasmenos, and Anagnost’s Lamentations of Holy Friday.

The program will also feature sacred masterworks including Tavener’s Song for Athene, Vivaldi’s Stabat Mater, Verdi’s Lacrymosa from the Requiem, and Brahms’ How Lovely Is Thy Dwelling Place from the German Requiem.
