His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros paid a visit to the Hellenic House in Washington, DC, for the first time, on Saturday, March 21, where he was welcomed by AHI President and CEO Nick Larigakis and met with members of the Boards of Directors of both the American Hellenic Institute and the American Hellenic Institute Foundation (AHIF).

James H. Lagos, Esq., Chairman of the AHI Board of Directors, and Leon Andris, Chairman of the AHIF Board of Directors, were also in attendance.

During his visit, Archbishop Elpidophoros expressed his appreciation for AHI’s work in advancing and strengthening the relationship between the United States, Greece, and Cyprus.

Board members engaged in a discussion on the important role of the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the vital contributions of the Greek American community in advancing Hellenic ideals and supporting regional stability in the Eastern Mediterranean.

“We were privileged to welcome His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros to the Hellenic House. His unwavering commitment to Hellenism and Orthodoxy in America, and his spiritual leadership, made his visit especially meaningful”, stated AHI President and CEO Nick Larigakis.

Later that day, the Archbishop delivered remarks at AHI’s 52nd Anniversary Hellenic Heritage Achievement & National Public Service Awards Dinner at the Capital Hilton in Washington, D.C.
