Greece Leaves Strong Impression the UN International Bazaar in NYC

NEW YORK, NY – The Permanent Mission of Greece to the UN actively participated in the UN International Bazaar held on June 6 at the UN Headquarters in NYC, after a 4- year hiatus due to the pandemic. The fundraising event was hosted by the United Nations Delegations Spouses’ Club (UNDSC) under the auspices of the spouse of the UN Secretary -General.

The annual event aims to strengthen ties between member countries and raise funds to support the UN’s activities and humanitarian works. All proceeds will be donated by the United Nations for charity.

This year’s bazaar featured 100 booths showcasing products and traditional food of almost 39 UN member countries.

Visitors [mostly UN officials, Permanent Representatives and members of diplomatic missions] were delighted to visit the two Greek booths, an indoor one with packaged Greek products, such as olive oil, olives, oregano, feta cheese, and an outdoor with fresh fine foods, and enjoy the Greek hospitality.

The New York Office of Economic and Commercial Affairs contributed decisively to the dynamic Greek presence having secured and promoting Greek product offers by companies Green Cola, Gyro World, Kourellas, Loumidis Foods, Optima Foods, and F&S Pies.

A total of 39 Permanent Missions to the UN (out of 193 member states) and charitable organizations participated in this year’s UN International Bazaar. The Greek participation was coordinated by Mrs. Maria Kazana-Sekeris, wife of the Permanent Representative of Greece to the UN Ambassador Evangelos Sekeris, and among those present was the director of the Greek Public Diplomacy Office Mary Vaxevanidou.
