NEW YORK, NY – Students from four of our six Parochial Day Schools across the Direct Archdiocesan District came together at the Archdiocese’s headquarters in NYC on December 21 to sing the traditional Kalanda – Carols for His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros in a joyous and festive atmosphere.
This special group of carolers included students from the Cathedral School (Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, NYC), A. Fantis School (Sts. Constantine and Helen Cathedral, Brooklyn), St. Demetrios Greek American Day School (Astoria), and the Greek American Institute (Zoodochos Peghe, Bronx).
Students were accompanied by the Director of the Archdiocesan Children’s Choir Theodore Alvanos, as well as their school administrators and teachers.
His Eminence expressed his love and joy to the children and gifted them each a Christmas ornament, wishing them and their families a blessed Christmas season.
Consul General of Greece in New York, Dinos Konstantinou, attended the presentation, as well as the Director of the Greek Education Department, Anastasios Koularmanis, assistant Director Fr. Gregory Stamkopoulos, and Associate Director of the DAD’s Department of Greek Education, Athina Filippou-Katehis.
