ATHENS –
Minister of Foreign Affairs George Gerapetritis is visiting New York to promote Greece’s candidacy as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the 2025-2026 term. He will participate in supporting events and conduct a final round of meetings before the formal balloting on Thursday, June 6.
On Tuesday, June 4, Gerapetritis will be the keynote speaker at an event organized by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation. During the event, he will outline Greece’s candidacy priorities.
On Wednesday, June 5, the Minister will meet with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. Subsequently, he will attend a joint High-Level Event at the UN Headquarters with the foreign ministers of the co-candidates, Denmark, Pakistan, Panama, and Somalia.
On Thursday, June 6, the Minister of Foreign Affairs will attend the elections of the five non-permanent members of the Security Council, which will be held in the UN General Assembly Hall.
