Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew leaves American Hospital

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew was discharged from the American Hospital of Constantinople on Thursday, December 30, following six days of hospitalization after being infected by the Omicron COVID-19 variant.

His All-Holiness will remain in isolation at the patriarchal residence in Therapeia before returning to the Phanar to lead celebrations for Epiphany, according to a statement by the Ecumenical Patriarchate’s Press Office.

Turkey’s Health Minister, Dr. Fahrettin Koca, spoke with him on Wednesday night, in the third such call, to ask after his health and offer his ministry’s support when needed. The Patriarch conveyed his best wishes for the new year and for the ministry’s efforts to fight the pandemic in the country. [ANA-MPA]
